Flying high
The Gulfstream 550 - perhaps the ultimate gadget. |
Sometimes in life it's better not to compromise. Consider the Gulfstream 450
If you’re looking for the fastest, the most advanced and most glamorous private jet on the market there isn’t really much to debate. The Gulfstream 550 is the best all round ultra-long-range business jet in the world.
Of course the best never comes cheap. In fact at a cool $46 million plus this little gem is in a class of its own. But it can fly non-stop from LA to Moscow or Dallas to Tel Aviv and holds the record for the fastest flight over an established path - that is it flew 6,619 nautical miles non-stop at an average cruise speed of Mach .83 in an amazing 12 hours 32 minutes. Very impressive. Its strength is that the plane can fly high above commercial air traffic, weather and adverse winds. At 51,000 feet you escape all the lumps and bumps of other flights, meaning you can fly faster to your destination.
Speed isn’t the only thing that’s great about the G550. Buy one and you can have it custom made to fit your every whim. You can choose from multiple cabin layouts that cater to business, pleasure or both. The long cabin allows 14 to 18 people to work productively or stretch out and relax. You can choose to have phones, faxes, DVDs, plasmas and internet access. All mod cons can be provided to make your flight as comfortable as being locked in a box 50,000 feet off the ground for hours on end can possibly be.
The G550 also boasts the most advanced flight deck in corporate aviation. The Planeview cockpit is an integrated avionics suite featuring four large crystal displays significantly improving readability of terrain maps, navigational and weather information. All this jargon basically means you’ll be pretty safe on your journey and the pilot has all the right information so he won’t crash the plane. Good news really.
Talk to your accountant.
